La Mina Ponupo, Cuba
Songo – La Maya is a municipality in the Santiago de Cuba Province of Cuba. It is located north-east of Santiago de Cuba and is centered on the towns of La Maya (municipal seat)
When you arrive in the center from La Maya with the bus from Santiago, you have to go about 200meters
to the Horse-drawn carriage station.
With the carriage you go about 20 minutes by a sandy road to the residential district "La Mina Ponupo"
The district get the name from a closed mine. All the transport is managed by horses, the people live
from agriculture and if you go deeper in the district you see more wooden houses. They manage the field work
with oxen and they cook with firewood. The people live in simple circumstances.
There is a little river , where they get the water, a refreshing and also it´s used to wash the horses after work.
There I made my history.
