Contemplation
Unsuspected from the ground but true natural wonders when seen from above, the Icelandic glacial rivers offer the most unique sight I had ever seen.
During my 2022 trip I didn't have the time to visit each spot where those rivers could be seen, so I immediately set out to go back in 2023 to further explore those unique curvy patterns.
The rivers are composed of spring water and glacial water. Given their differences in temperature and density, those don't mix well (think of it as oil and water). As a result, they create spectacular visuals.
The most impressive thing about them is their diversity: you can drive around the island and discover new patterns, colours and textures every day, then come back a week later to the same spots and those patterns will already be different.
Fine Art abstract photography is my way of triggering the spectator's curiosity, making them question what they are seeing, how far the subject is from the photographer, how big the subject is, what it is made of, etc...
My greatest achievement is having people asking me if I'm a painter, not realising that what they are looking at is a real representation of nature.
PS: the 1100 px limit doesn't do justice to the original quality of the pictures, please allow me to send you the original size as soon as needed.
I mainly aim to offer an abstract perspective on landscape photography by focusing on parts of a scene that often escape the sight of those who look at it.
Over the past few years, photography expeditions as well as a growing passion for abstract realities have led me to build a unique photography style that arouses the curiosity of the spectator.
As a complement to photography, I have recently developed an interest for videography as a tool for documenting the places that I explore.
Videography was the perfect opportunity for me to merge my passion for music with my visuals.
After seven years of producing music, I have crafted my first original soundtrack for my short film, "Contemplation," and I intend to keep composing for future films.
Why abstract photography?
While landscape photography can already be truly impressive and eye catching in itself, I believe we live in a world overloaded with easy-to-access media where images tend to resemble eachother more and more every day.
Diversity in art (not only in photography) thus seems crucial to me in order for it to remain interesting. Offering rarely before seen images helps me to achieve this goal.
Moreover, my eye is increasingly drawn to the details of the things I see, the unexplored perspectives and the unusual patterns and textures.
Capturing a scene in its concrete globality is not enough anymore, a craving for compositions unseen at first glance is taking over.
