Feeding Edith
Here, taken about 18 hours after the birth, my mum leans in as Rachel tries to get Edith to latch on. A mother, her daughter, and her daughter's daughter bound together by an urgent need to feed, to nourish.
Shot on 120mm Kodak Portra film, with a Mamiya RB67.

entry description
The morning after Edith was born, she still wasn't feeding properly. Rachel, my younger sister – now a first time mum – had fought through her twenties against an eating disorder that threatened to stop her getting pregnant. For years I had watched my own mother try helplessly to feed Rachel, to make her well again. Now Rachel felt helpless as baby Edith refused to eat. Here, taken about 18 hours after the birth, my mum leans in as Rachel tries to get Edith to latch on. A mother, her daughter, and her daughter's daughter bound together by an urgent need to feed, to nourish.
