Trees In Winter

entry description
For me the stark simplicity of a lone tree in a field of snow is a work of art itself. The combination of the snow and the reduced visibility gives these images the atmosphere and depth that I always strive for and it’s with these, simple, minimal images where my heart truly lies.about the photographer
I’m a landscape photographer who is drawn to wild, remote places like the North York Moors, the western isles of Scotland and more recently to the indescribable beauty of the arctic. For me artistically less is more, so shooting in adverse conditions such as snow and fog helps me to pare down the elements in my images and gives me the simplicity I strive for. This allows me to emphasise the subject whilst creating depth to the photograph. For me there is nothing more beautiful than the stark outline of a bare tree in winter disappearing into the mist.back to gallery
