title
Temporal Horizons
the textures of nature in the temporal and horizontal planes that they cohabit with humanity.
1. Prism
The windowsill of a plane becomes a prism, dispersing the golden sunlight as well as its reflection on the water's surface.
The Yellow Sea, South Korea, 2023
2. Getbol
“Getbol” is a Korean word meaning ‘tidal flat’.
In 2021, four getbol sites in South Korea were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as they exhibit a significant link between geo- and biodiversity, hosting numerous endemic, endangered, and threatened species.
Incheon Getbol, which accounts for 29.3% of all getbol sites, is yet to be listed due to local opposition in fear of losing their livelihood.
Incheon, South Korea, 2023
3. Mirrors
A lone fishing boat becomes a mirror, reflecting the flaming light of the setting sun, while the Mediterranean Sea becomes yet another mirror as it reflects the sunset sky.
Pula, Croatia, 2021
4. Nebula
2023
5. Vinyl
The visible spectrum of sunset is cast onto the roofs of vinyl greenhouses.
Vinyl greenhouses, called “vinyl house” in Korea, are an emblem of the South Korean countryside, in this case Andong.
Andong, known for its farms, is in the region of South Korea where my mother's family of farmers is from.
My uncle and aunt still live and work there as farmers in their vinyl greenhouses.
Andong, South Korea, 2023
Having been fascinated with art and history for as early as his memory reaches,
he had followed an essentially lifelong path of an art historian.
Upon realizing that such passion derived not only from an academic curiosity,
but much more so from an instinctive desire and need for creative self-expression,
he transitioned into photography, and ultimately discovered his visual language in
abstract landscapes.
Born in Seoul, South Korea.
Raised in Los Angeles, USA.
Based in Paris, France.
