Matière of Light
Using a digital camera, the artist records the trajectory of light that cannot be captured by the naked eye by taking long-exposure photographs. This technique captures subtle changes in the movement and intensity of light, creating an abstract visual expression.
As the title of the work suggests, the trails of light appear on the screen like the matière of a painting, expressing the texture and materiality of light. This visualizes the movement and form of light, which is normally difficult to capture, and brings a new visual experience to the viewer. The purpose of this work is to provide an opportunity to visually experience the real existence of light, a fleeting presence that appears and disappears. We hope that viewers will gain a new perspective on the world by rediscovering the existence of light, which we take for granted in our daily lives, and exploring its complexity, beauty, and mystery.
”Matière of Light” is a chapter in the never-ending quest to discover the essence of light, located at the fusion point of science, technology, and artistic expression. Through this work, we hope you will rediscover the magic of light, which is always around us but often overlooked, and sense the beauty and mystery hidden in everyday life.
