Torii are a symbol of the transition between our world and the spirit world. Spirits of Meiji is a long exposure photo of people passing through the shrine of Meiji Jingu in Shibuya, Tokyo. By using a long exposure to capture people's movements through the shrine, people transition from fully opaque physical objects to more transparent spirit beings that appear to commune more closely with the shrine and nature.about the photographer
A retired video game programmer, I am based in Utah and Montana. I wander the earth taking photos of whatever catches my eye. I prefer black and white because it breaks with reality immediately allowing a photo to be viewed without a grounding that might interfere with the subject itself.back to gallery
