Damsels and Dragons
These insects have a long history - very similar looking creatures were buzzing around the skies of the Carboniferous period, over 300 million years ago. It is a design that clearly works!

entry description
These are all pairs of damselflies or dragonflies - both members of the odonata order of insects. I am a passionate macro photographer and especially love these insects with their elegant, long bodies and wings. Somehow pairs look even more beautiful than singles. These insects have a long history - very similar looking creatures were buzzing around the skies of the Carboniferous period, over 300 million years ago. about the photographer
I live in Manchester, UK, and have been a keen macro photographer since 2017. Macro photography combines my love of nature and art into a passion for capturing the beauty of the world of minibeasts, flowers, leaves and fungi; I am no happier than when kneeling in front of a butterfly in a wildflower meadow, Nikon D500 in hand. I also enjoy landscapes, astro, and abstract photography. I give talks to camera clubs on several photography topics.back to gallery
