I chose not to portray people's faces to emphasize that in these places, individuals are not regarded as valuable lives, but merely as labor without rights, without identity, like numbers in a production machine. The absence of faces in the images aims to highlight the sense of anonymity and dehumanization that these people experience daily, a reality that often goes unnoticed outside of rural areas.

I present my photographic project on life in a village in Brazil, nestled among the vast sugarcane plantations in the Pernambuco region. This village is just one of many similar places that dot this rural area. Here, people's lives seem suspended and bound to the agricultural cycle of sugarcane harvesting. The prospects for personal improvement are minimal: the only way out for those seeking better living conditions is to leave the countryside, abandoning everything they know.I chose not to portray people's faces to emphasize that in these places, individuals are not regarded as valuable lives, but merely as labor without rights, without identity, like numbers in a production machine.
