Keshet - An insight into the Jewish-queer community

During my photography studies I was inspired by the photographs of Diane Arbus. Her portraits of apparently small groups in society encouraged me to explore and thus get to know new perspectives and directions in our society. In a very personal and documentary approach, I was able to meet young, Jewish-queer people in and around Cologne. This resulted in black and white portraits of the people themselves as well as portraits of their personal surroundings and (currently) important objects. Keshet means rainbow in Hebrew and connects the jewish-queer perspective of this project. The aim of this photo documentary was to visualize the young Jewish-queer life in and around Cologne and thus encourage ourselves to an open and honest way of living together in society. For this award I have chosen my personal favorite potrait out of the series.back to gallery
