In the vast, shifting landscapes of the Gobi Desert, a solitary camel caravan traverses the sands, their presence constant amidst the ever-changing hues of the earth and sky. This photographic series captures the passage of time through the lens of an unchanging subject, inviting reflection on our insignificance in the face of nature’s vastness and the constancy of the human spirit against the backdrop of an evolving world. As Lao Tzu wisely observed, "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."Beginning with four camels and two riders, and concluding with just one camel and one rider, the series poses a profound question: What has changed along the way, and why? about the photographer
Thibault Gerbaldi is a self-taught Leica photographer and passionate traveler, known for capturing authentic, emotional stories from some of the world’s most remote and diverse regions. His award-winning work spans cultures and landscapes as varied as Greenland to India, blending documentary, travel, and portrait photography. Thibault has self-published seven photography books and earned international recognition, including 1st place at the Siena Awards 2025, the International Photo Awards 2025 and the Rising Talent Award from Travel Photographer of the Year in 2024. His work has been exhibited globally and featured in Leica Fotografie International, LENS Magazine, and more.
