Flight of Fancy
Flying in a helicopter over a flock of flamingos, who in turn were flying over the lake, I felt like I was transported to another world, where every turn and dip of the helicopter was a brushstroke on an ever-changing canvas. The flamingos, in their flight, weaved patterns in the sky like living paint. Below, the lake reflected the surreal ballet above. Each dip and rise of the helicopter felt like a dance with this vibrant, ephemeral world. The scene was both breathtaking and otherworldly, as if I was witnessing a fleeting, magical moment that existed outside the boundaries of everyday reality.
We have travelled extensively in Africa, and to a limited degree in India, for our photography.

entry description
In summer months as the temperature rises, the briny water of Lake Magadi in Kenya evaporates, leaving behind salt, that a certain type of algae thrives on. The algae start a chemical reaction to the salt that naturally give the lake its various shades of pink, red and maroon depending on prevalent lighting conditions. The algae provide ample nourishment to the flamingos that flock to the lake.Flying in a helicopter over a flock of flamingos, who in turn were flying over the lake, I felt like I was transported to another world, where every turn and dip of the helicopter was a brushstroke on an ever-changing canvas.
