entry description
Tokyo is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Yet it is astonishing how orderly it feels. Everyone moves with an instinctive sense of rule and rhythm. The crossings in Japan are a famous photographic subject. Before the trip, I was set on capturing them. But my approach was not to focus on the “many,” rather on the individual — and the fleeting encounters between individuals within the seeming chaos. I find it deeply pleasing to discover the subtle links between strangers, the infinite possibilities of stories.about the photographer
