Farmer Migrant workers are a very special group in Chinese society in modern history. Most of chinese population has always been farmers. While chinese cities are developing it requires a lot of workers. Farmers are flowing to the cities in hope of better salaries. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, they were in 2012 close to 263 millions migrant workers. Those people have a dual identity of farmer and worker. Busy in their hometown during the farming seasoning, migrant workers the rest of the year. They can only leave behind their elders and children in they hometown in order to survive.
