Memories of Unrememberable Past (2014), Ono makes explosion on surface of unexposed film in total darkness. The films exist as an evidence of destructive experience that only they remember. The final image is photograph of an object that had experienced the release of energy in various forms: light, burn scar left from extreme heat, chemical reaction and the passing of time. Masahito Ono (b. 1983) is an artist whom received his MFA in Photography and Related Media at Parsons School of Design. Ono’s practice explores a wide range of storytelling through incorporating sculpture and installation into photography and video, and introduces duration of time in his work. Ono has showcased his works internationally with two solo exhibitions in Tokyo and a number of group exhibitions worldwide. Ono was born in Japan, studied in Sweden, Japan, and the United States and currently lives and works in New York.back to gallery
