The Fisherman
A lot of people on this barren but beautiful island used to be fishermen.
Each day the went out on their own small boats and came back in the morning with up to 25-35 boxes of fish. This was about 10-15 years ago.
Past time.
The last decade the big companies with the uge fishing trawlers are fishing the ocean dry. Today the local fishermen are happy when they can get about 5 boxes of fish.
The local fishermen, only a few beeing left from former years, dont catch enough fish anymore.
This scenery symbolizes the moment, when the last fisher is there, still standing and trying to catch some last fish.
The ocean is nearly empty but the last local fisherman cant give up.
Mostly in square format. Sometimes not.
Shooting with an hold Hasselblad 500cm, build in 1977, the year I was born.
I try to capture a moment, a vision, a scene in order to simplify and idealize it. To reduce it to a minimum.
