entry description
Reflecting, he stood magnificently cool greeting the high tide that rumbled and crashed from the dark ocean onto the cracked cement of the lifeguard-tower platform, saturating his trench coat and purple sweater. He obviously had a personal relationship with the water. I joined a small crowd watching him, each of us trying to discern whether he was crazy, in danger, or something else. A stranger offered him a towel. He dabbed his face, then sat down on his side, legs stacked, dangling over the water, letting the waves soak him inside their salty cocoons. When he stood again, I walked with him, his coat dripping heavily, up a hill to his Smart car. He told me he was living boldly, enjoying waves, exercising, and having fun.about the photographer
Bill Blonigan is an amateur photographer and professional intellectual-property lawyer living in San Diego, California. He started taking photography seriously on vacation in 2014, after slipping and falling on a muddy trail beside a mountain road in Maui, Hawaii. He was taking a no-look snapshot of a distant waterfall over a wall of heavy vegetation. The fall broke the LCD screen on his point-and-shoot camera, causing him to reconsider both his choice of camera and his approach to photography.back to gallery
