entry description
Chiaroscuro: "the use of deep variations and subtle gradations of light and shade". Light carves few details out of the darkness, leaving everything else to the viewer's imagination. Inspired by Greek mythology, these five self-portraits are titled, from left to right: Eos (goddess of dawn), Nike (goddess of victory), Ananke (goddess of inevitability), Atropos (the fate goddess who cut the thread of life), and Persephone (queen of the underworld).about the photographer
I am a scientist and an award winning author and photographer. I grew up in Tuscany, in a house on a hill that I shared with two dogs, two cats, 5 chickens, and the occasional batches of stick insects, newts and toads that my dad would bring home from the lab. Today, I spend my days analyzing genetic data, my evenings chasing sunsets, and my nights pretending I'm someone else.back to gallery
