entry description
An overhead image of traffic crossing the Lion's Gate Bridge in Vancouver during the sunrise through a dense winter fog. A long-exposure was used to slow traffic and convey the bustle and movement of the morning commute.about the photographer
Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught landscape and fine-art photographer living in Vancouver, Canada. Photographing a scene connects the photographer to the location and immerses him in the experience of the place. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. The excitement of landscape photography comes from the surprise at nature's unexpected conditions and adapting the frame to those conditions. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.back to gallery
