entry description
I see colours around people, and whether that makes me someone in touch with auras or a synesthetic experience depends on who you ask. Personally, I believe there is validity on both sides. While I have no doubt that auras are real, I don’t believe I personally can see them, in fact, I don’t think most people who claim too can. For me, it is the fact that the colours are different depending on who is looking at the person shows that it is not an ethereal experience of interacting with someone’s energy signatures but actually a synesthetic experience. The work displayed here is a representation of the colours I see around people. I chose to use fabrics as my medium to display the person’s colours to stress the importance of movement, in the colours. To further depict the fact everyone’s colours have different patterns of movement, some of the subjects are posed in statuesque poses with heavy movement in the fabric draped over them while other subject’s fabrics are incorporated into a movement being performed by the subject themselves. Ultimately, these images are portraits depicting how I perceive each subject based on the colours I see around them.about the photographer
I grew up in a military household, where we moved every four to five years. Currently I live in Mobile Al and go to the Alabama School of Math and Science. Despite our school being a STEM school we have a surprisingly strong art program. I first started exploring photography at the beginning go this year through the art program at school. Photography for me has become a way to express myself, and a way for me to share my story with the world and without access to the facilities at my school I doubt I would have grown as much as a photographer in such little time.back to gallery
