Resorts
I focus not on holidaymakers, but on the artefacts that have become signifiers of holidays by the beach in the UK.
These seaside towns seem to change at a much slower pace than the rest of our cultural landscape, offering the illusion of escape or a return to simpler times.
But this contrast only seems to highlight the passage of time, resulting in an often melancholy, doleful sense of nostalgia.
I works with medium and large formats using a primarily analogue process.

entry description
Over the past couple of years I have been travelling along Britain’s shoreline photographing seaside resorts.I focus not on holidaymakers, but on the artefacts that have become signifiers of holidays by the beach in the UK.
These seaside towns seem to change at a much slower pace than the rest of our cultural landscape, offering the illusion of escape or a return to simpler times.
But this contrast only seems to highlight the passage of time, resulting in an often melancholy, doleful sense of nostalgia.
