entry description
"Moldova Elsewhere" is an ongoing project that analyses the condition of precariousness, slowly spreading throughout the country, from its countryside to the capital. The project reflects on the Moldovan lifestyle and the feeling of being in another place: the “Elsewhere”, a general post-modern human condition, but one which emerges with particular clarity in Moldova. Many Moldavians have left their houses and their motherland, bringing with them their anxieties, woes and hopes. But leaving an unchanged burden of sorrows to those who stay behind. Moldova is a stuck country, where everything seems to take the shape of a million discordant fragments. The passing of time and the crisis have crumbled rural towns and villages alike, creating a scattered geography that reflects the tensions running through the Country. The project focuses on people and landscapes, portraying them in a state of isolation and waiting, where places seem to decompose and the boundary between abandoned spaces and those that are currently inhabited is increasingly blurred.about the photographer
