The opening ceremony was attended by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and his wife, Farah Pahlavi, who unveiled the first human rights charter of Cyrus the Great (first written by Cyrus the Great, the Achaemenid king).
During the Iranian Revolution , there were gatherings in the square, and after the victory of the revolution, a rousing program by Rouhollah Khomeini on his return from Paris to Tehran was held there, and his name was changed from Shahyad Square to freedom Square. During the revolution, slogans were written on the towers.
In the weeks following the tenth presidential election in Iran, freedom Square was the site of some protesters' rallies, and slogans were again posted on the tower.
According to surveys, most of Tehran's citizens have identified the Freedom Tower as a symbol of Tehran.
40 years after the Iranian Revolution, they are still seeking freedom!

In the solar year, a design of an Iranian symbol was identified among Iranian architects, and at the end of the project was a 24-year-old architect, Hossein Amanat, and a graduate of the College of Fine Arts. Tehran won and was chosen to build.
