Rolling hills of Tuscany
I can't quite pinpoint where my deep appreciation for nature comes from. However, I do have very fond childhood memories of spending my holidays hiking in the Alps with my family. Technology also had a huge pull on me, very early on and I always had to fiddle around with gadgets, including cameras. My photography never went beyond taking simple snapshots of my travels though and I gave them little though after sharing with my friends.
In 2017 I rediscovered my passion for the outdoors and made my first conscious efforts to take “proper” pictures after watching some of Tomas Heaton’s early vlogs. Needless to say, I got hooked pretty quickly! Since then, landscape photography has taken over most of my spare time.
I still lack the elevator pitch about why I practice photography. To be honest, I never felt like much of a creative person until I started doing it. Perhaps taking pictures is the perfect blend of technology and art for me. What ever it is, I really appreciate the time I get to experience the landscape / streets even when I don't take the camera out of my bag.
Five years after taking my first “serious” photograph it still feels like my creative journey has just begun. Even so, I already had the pleasure to capture some amazing moments, which I wouldn't miss for the world.

entry description
Tuscany is a landscape photographer's dream. Even though this stunning scene in Val d'Orcia has been photographed a lot over the years I was still excited to see what I could come up with. Sunset was not looking too promising though. With the light quickly fading I began experimenting with longer exposure times. After four unsuccessful attempts I tried a last four and a half minute exposure. When I saw the final image on the back of my screen I was ecstatic. With persistence and a bit of luck I was able to capture peak color in the clouds and also create a movement that was pleasing to the eye. This is quite easily my favourite shot from my trip in spring 2019.about the photographer
My name is Martin and I hail from the mountainous country of Austria in central Europe. During the week I work an office job in Vienna. On the weekend I change into my hiking clothes and photograph landscapes.I can't quite pinpoint where my deep appreciation for nature comes from.
