Those five photographs are an abstract of a work in progress called "A corps perdu". The main idea is to approach the body and its nudity at the border that separates erotism and death, trying to figure out the collusion in which both encounter. This work is inspired by Georges Bataille's thinking and by Freud's conception of what is unrepresentable. Analog photography has been chosen to shoot those pictures, as black and white, because I wanted to give the unrefined materiality of the skin.about the photographer
Dimitri Sandler was born in 1973 in Paris where he spent the major part of his life. He is a doctor in philosophy, specialist of Walter Benjamin's work. He is teaching philosophy in a social school in the suburbs of Paris and is also a commercial movies director dedicated to education.back to gallery
