entry description
Plum-headed parakeets are resident birds of the Western Ghats of India. They are very shy birds and finding them in an open area and hearing to their distinctive calls is quite a watch. They are very swift and always seen in flocks. During the winter, especially in the morning hours, these birds arrive at a nearby paddy field and feed on the freshly grown paddies. We had a wonderful opportunity to create hide near the paddy field and waited for birds to arrive during the winter season. When they arrived, they arrive in good numbers, they are super swift and hard to capture in the flight. They twist, swirl, and fight in the air. This twisted pose, wings wide open, and visible red shoulder patch on the wings are a dream shot.about the photographer
