Heartbreak
Once she started taking her camera outside the dance studio, it did not take long for Alexis to choose portraiture as her craft. Taking inspiration from dance, fashion magazines and her love of human faces and form, she began studying portraiture - from paintings to sculpture to modern photography. Alexis is self-taught as a photographer and digital retoucher and is continuously inspired by both the history of portrait photography, and the incredible advances in both the art and the technology of the photography world.
Currently Alexis is focused on creating portraits with depth and with a timeless aesthetic. The study of light, expression and movement are constantly informing her work and she is always aiming to create an image that will reflect back to the subject his or her own incredible beauty and strength. She is also newly working on building a portfolio of fine art portraits.

entry description
This self portrait is an exploration of my feelings about losing my path & passion in life due to physical injury. It is a composite work, photographed in my studio in Canmore, Alberta, Canada.about the photographer
Alexis grew up in a dance studio, training to be a classical ballet dancer, so the beginnings of her enthusiasm for photography were seeded in her dance life. The first places she was inspired to use a camera were in rehearsal and backstage, photographing her peers. Although she has branched out of the dance world and now works as a portrait photographer, the lines, movement and energy of dance continue to inspire her with every day she spends behind the lens, whether she’s working with dancers or everyday people.Once she started taking her camera outside the dance studio, it did not take long for Alexis to choose portraiture as her craft.
