“The model” is a series of self-portraits using green screen and stock photos. They often propose unlikely situations and focuses on storytelling. Most of the pictures mix a some what queer fashion photography with fine art. The series shows life in a humoristic way. The animals play a huge part. They both get a kind of Disney dimension where animals have the same value as people and are friends with people, and they tell a story about loneliness. The picture examines themes of identity, gender, and entertainment and popular fictions. They mix cultural references with personal meanings and identity.about the photographer
Anja Høvik Strømsted is a multidisciplinary artist born in Oslo. She has studied Creative Writing at Telemark College University and Gothenburg University Valand School of Fine Arts and Film production (M.F.A.) at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. She has produced works of fiction, short and feature films, animation films, music and music videos, photography, and visual arts that have won prizes and screened in India, Germany, the U.S., Italy, Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, and Norway among other countries.back to gallery
