entry description
An aggressive 'polar vortex' storm system originating from Antarctica crossed the coast of central Chile and blanketed the city of Santiago with heavy snow cover – a phenomenon very rarely experienced. Locals had explained to me that the last time an event like this had occurred was in the early 1980's. After four days of no power (therefore, no heating), below freezing temperatures and destructive winds; the skies cleared and revealed the sheer scale of the Andes and it's foothills covered in snow. As much as humans can create impressive structures; the scale of the Andes are a beautifully humbling reminder that we are so very insignificant.back to gallery
