Echoes Of The Past, Venice

entry description
This image was made to accompany a talk I give on Venice, its history and beauty. It was necessary to wait for a calm day so that the lagoon would be still. The day in question also saw clear skies, perfect for what I had in mind. These 'Casoni', or small houses are very similar to the basic shacks that the early lagoon dwellers would have constructed as people started to live within the boggy, marshy lagoon in Venice's very early days. A long exposure flattened out small ripples in the ;agoon, caused by the birds that were flying and landing all around. This long exposure also created a sense of loneliness and timelessness that works well with the subject. Made in December 2018 using a Canon 5d MkIV, Canon 70-200mm MkII @ 200mm. ISO 100, 61 seconds, f22 LEE Filters 10 stop ND.about the photographer
Chris Ceaser is an award winning photographer based at his gallery in York, U.K. For the last 15 years he has been building a powerful portfolio of landscape photography. He is an Ambassador for the Canson Infinity range of fine art papers and has been recognised in worldwide events such as the paris Photography Prize, The ND awards, the International Photography Awards and the British Photography Awards. Together with his gallery in York, Chris runs a series of photography workshops in the U.K. and Europe.back to gallery
