Love of Curves
For my artistic work I often use architecture. Architecture is everywhere and always present. Often it is not consciously perceived, even ignored. My work concentrates on a changed and expanded view of architecture. For me, it is not the question of reality that is of great interest, but that of perception.
My works are very formal in their presentation. I see a fascinating clarity in the variety and complexity of motifs, which I bring out by different means.
The unexpected angle of view and the elaboration of forms should encourage the viewer to engage with new aspects and to leave familiar perspectives behind. Through my careful selection of motifs and cut-outs a uniqueness and a new beauty can be discovered.
In the series "Love of Curves" shown here I show a triptych. All three pictures show the building structure of selected buildings from my perception. Each single picture shows the curved structure of one or more buildings. All three pictures of the triptych in context show a new picture-spanning curved landscape.
Each image in itself is created from several digital photographs. Some of them are excerpts from spherical panoramas, others are independent photographs that are put together like a collage. They form the basis of my work. In a second, elaborate process, the photographs are newly developed and re-exposed.
