Glamour Insects
The bokeh in these photos has been created outdoors - with the insects still being torpid from a chilly night. It's always important for me to not hurt them. Only one photo of this series has been retouched a little bit - all in all they are out of the cam.
Nick Smith for Outdoor Photography magazine:
"There's something magical about Henrik Spranz's photography. Although deeply rooted in the hyper-real world of natural history and landscape, his work bears none of the hallmarks of scientific illustration or even animal portraiture. His world is a dream-like state of whimsical and wispy perfection, pastel colours and cheeky woodland creatures. In fact, it's fair to say that the Spranz portfolio has more in common with Grimm's Fairy Tales, Hans Christian Andersen or even the early animated children's movies by Walt Disney, than just about anything else".

The intention behind this series is to present the insects on a glamorous stage. They are not only the stars in this series, but also essential for many reasons, they can be pollinators, they can help keeping pests in control - and many more. The bokeh in these photos has been created outdoors - with the insects still being torpid from a chilly night. It's always important for me to not hurt them. Only one photo of this series has been retouched a little bit - all in all they are out of the cam.
