Sandaoling, the end of an era

entry description
Deeply hidden in the chinese province of Xinjiang, some old fashioned locomotives run their final trains in 2020. The chinese diged a huge open-pit where they extract the coal for the national power plants. In this two-tier country where the modernity of high speed trains rub shoulders with the antiquity of steam power, a bunch of railworkers work all the year for an indutry condamned to disapear. With the actual preoccupation of climate change, those offbeat trains offer to the world their ultimate plumes, as it sounds like the end of an historic era, here, in the small town of Sandaloing.about the photographer
Born in Troyes (FR) in may 1990, I have a strong passion for both railways and photography. I try to give a personnal view on this rich and versatil subject by seeing by taking pictures of trains, infrastructures as well as rail workers or passengers. I have a special interest in traditionnal railways that provide a timeless image of traveling and are a true service for whole people. I'm always in research for new countries, cultures and railway networks. I only use medium format cameras and slide films to make my work more typical and personnal. It's an hard choice as it limits me in hard light conditions but it makes very vibrants colors and nice perspectives.back to gallery
