Light on black painting.
Paintings are beautiful, of course. But the museum itself (the building) is also very beautiful. The light entering the rooms of the museum is almost as extraordinary as the paintings of Soulages.
Pierre Soulages is one of the rare artists to have been exposed to the Louvre museum during his lifetime. He is known as "the painter of the dark", because of his interest in color "both as color and non-color".
"When light is reflected on black, it transforms and transmutes it."
In this black and white image, I try to illustrate this idea.
This photo is a tribute to the work of Pierre Soulages.
