entry description
Socorro island, Mexico, is a protected biosphere sanctuary and home to some of the largest marine animals. This photo was shot when snorkelling with a school of silky sharks that gathered behind our boat. The silky shark gets its name from the smooth texture of its skin and streamlined body. While working on the shark, an unexpected visitor glided about 15 meters beneath us and gave a whole new excitement to encounter. It was an oceanic manta ray. With a matte black wing span of 7 meters, it is the largest ray in the world. The manta ray gently took its place in the middle of the encircling sharks for an excellent photo opportunity.about the photographer
