entry description
Amboseli National Park in Kenya is home to a handful of the last remaining great “Tuskers” in Africa. With Mt. Kilimanjaro often looming in the background, elephant herds (often as large as a few hundred) and lone bulls or smaller bachelor groups make a daily trek from the forests at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the grasslands and marshes of Amboseli. Capturing images of these gentle giants from low angles while crossing the open savannah between these two areas can provide spectacular results, particularly if the clouds are building above.about the photographer
Jim began exploring photography in 2007 as entertainment on weekends during long business trips to Europe and Asia. Jim ventured deeper into photography after retiring and continues to hone his craft on the local area's scenic vistas and through an active travel schedule. Jim’s priority is collecting images from around the world, intended to stir awareness and offer glimpses of elements in nature and distant cultures that are rapidly changing, and in some cases at risk of disappearing entirely.back to gallery
