entry description
I captured this image at the mouth of Silver Salmon Creek in Alaska. Silver Salmon Creek is a river that runs from Silver Salmon Lake down to the western shore of the Cook Inlet, about 600 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska. I spent a couple of days following a mother bear and her three young cubs as she struggled between fattening herself up for the winter, feeding her young cubs and protecting them from from other male grizzlies also patrolling the same area. This particular image is one of the cubs lounging on the beach while mom was out hunting in the shallows of the river mouth.about the photographer
Jim began exploring photography in 2007 as entertainment on weekends during long business trips to Europe and Asia. Jim ventured deeper into photography after retiring and continues to hone his craft on the local area's scenic vistas and through an active travel schedule. Jim’s priority is collecting images from around the world, intended to stir awareness and offer glimpses of elements in nature and distant cultures that are rapidly changing, and in some cases at risk of disappearing entirely.back to gallery
