title
"A Christmas Carol"
It provides a snapshot of life inside the family of Bob Cratchit, the accountant working for Scrooge in the well known novel by Dickens.
That novel merges the gothic traits, rich of suspense and mysteries, with the romantic message about kindness, generosity and compassion. A Christmas Carol is therefore a fantasy tale that brings our souls on a self-discovery journey full of emotions.
This picture was shot using as a reference the characteristics of light in the Caravaggio’s painting of the 17th century: a harsh light, well defined on the portraits, and puntiforme only in some details.
Despite the 4 centuries of time, everything in his paintings, from light to composition, transcends time, and constitutes a source of inspiration for modern art.
Often people ask me if this picture actually is a reproduction of a painting. The idea behind this shot was exactly to promote such a question, while immersing the viewer in the dualism above mentioned.
Crew participating to the generation of this shot include actors/models, a fashion designer, 2 assistants for lighting, 2 makeup artists and hair stylists.
as an assistant for a few portrait photographers. That
was when I learnt the rst professional photographic tech-
niques. Those rst years of eld experience as an assistant
and photographer gave me useful insights of the portrait
photography business. The strive to broaden and improve
my skills and knowledge about the artistic side of photog-
raphy were the main reasons why I subsequently enrolled
at the European Institute of Design in Italy, as a fashion,
editorial and advertising photography student. Thanks to
the broaden view resulting from my educational experi-
ence, and fascinated by the world of fashion photography,
I was eager to unleash my potential in what soon became
my passion: fashion photography. Graduated with excel-
lent results, my rst project in the fashion business granted me the Merit Award at
the FEP Emerging Talent Award (an award introduced by the Federation of European
Photographers). Such a publication was soon followed by other ones in dierent maga-
zines. Inspired by the work of many great photographers, while moved by my passion,
I always look for opportunities to improve my abilities and challenge my expertise.
