METROPOLIS SUNDAY - HONGKONG SERIES
Contrary to the prejudice that the metropolis of Hong Kong is crowded and noisy, I lead the viewer to quiet, almost deserted places. The Backastreets border directly on the lively alleys. The streets provide the skyscrapers with infrastructure and are the backside of the shining skyscraper scenery.
For me the untidy backs of the skyscrapers are a symbol of our society. Outside everything is neat and tidy, if you look a little deeper, it becomes gloomy, lively and effortless.
In another field of work I focus on the balancing act between photography and painting. As a hunter and collector, my archive is the starting point for these works. Various techniques from the photography and the painting are used for the works.
I was born in Switzerland in 1976. Already as a child, the camera and crayons were my favourite way to express myself. I graduated as an architect, later on I attended a self-taught photographer class and completed my photography studies at the Swiss school of journalism. I travelled Asia extensively and spent a lot of time exploring major cities. I mainly work on long term projects.

about the photographer
I am particularly interested in topics of public space. In my work I investigate the traces and habitats of modern civilization. The artefacts and found objects are characterized by the attitude of humans towards the environment. Further I am interested in the relationship between harmony and dissonance and chaos and order. In another field of work I focus on the balancing act between photography and painting. As a hunter and collector, my archive is the starting point for these works. Various techniques from the photography and the painting are used for the works.
