Balloons over the capital
Canberra, Australia
My fascination with photography started in the 1960s with the publication of the iconic image of a baboon in full flight turning to confront the chasing leopard. Today, the image still acts as a carrot on a stick, taunting me to achieve its standard with the taking of the next photograph. Combine this with the excitement of travel and the world becomes an amazing place, providing opportunity across the photographic genres of landscapes, cityscapes, events, portraits and wildlife.

entry description
It dawned cold and still. Wispy clouds filled the sky, and the sun was pale and weak. There was no wind, but a slight movement of air shimmered the surface of the lake. At 7:00 a.m. sixty hot air balloons, many from overseas launched from the grounds of Australia's old parliament house. Normally the prevailing winds would take them over solid land, but this time the breeze came from the West floating them across the waters of Lake Burly Griffith.Canberra, Australia
