Last March I was in the UAE to photograph the desolate and minimalist dunes of Dubai with his 'residents'. Most of the trees in this serene, minimalist landscape fight for their existence, not only because of the strong winds that move the dunes and expose the roots of trees and shrubs, but also the hot summers and cold (freezing at night) winters. The young trees have an almost impossible task of staying alive. Here are some photos of the (almost) survivors. But will there still be trees alive on my next visit or will it have become a landscape of serene dunes. . . ?back to gallery
