The title "Sisterhood" refers to not just sisters but also the strong sense of reliance and a tight relationship between these two females. Their love and compassion are palpable. Another reason for this photograph's labeling is my efforts to condemn the so-called "brotherhood."The Brotherhood concept was developed to illustrate the bonding of black friends who were not necessarily brothers. The kinship of brethren is not nearly as effective as the relationship of sisterhood; folks come and go, but family (sister) persists. The fundamental bond between these two sisters is unmatched, and their devotion to each other is visible in the overall image.back to gallery
