Burdened Mind
"Fear of Failure" (1th photograph) is about the concerns of not becoming anything, not getting the succes in life that I seek and basically becoming a nobody like my parents. Its a print entirely made in the darkroom, then scanned.
"Brink of Breakdown" (2th photograph) is a photograph describing a mental breakdown. My sister suffers from anxiety, and this is how I have been told that an anxiety attack feels like; being strangled in thoughts and not being able to breath. It's a cyanotype print made on watercolor paper and shot on 4x5" large format film.
"Mom" (3th photograph) is about my relationship to my mom. Even though I love both my mom and dad, for a long time I have not been proud of calling them my parents. My mom is a kind and loving woman, but I have been ashamed about her intellect and profession (cleaning lady). I have felt very different from my parents, but with this photograph I have begun looking inside myself and seeing myself in my parents. Beginning to be proud of my mom.
"Dad" (4th photograph) is about my relationship to my dad. My dad and I have never been very close, and sometimes I feel like I dont know him very well. This this a portrait of him as I have seen him; just a person which I look forward to learn to know someday. It's a series of 4x5" large format negatives combined.
