A Cure For Life
Spa resorts had their golden era from 1875 to 1915. During this era, the aristocracy and the bourgeoisie would flock to the spa towns. On the pretext of maintaining their health, this clientele was in fact mainly in search of hedonism, idleness and frivolity. Spa towns thus became ‘safety valves’ (Authier, 1997), another world, an escape from everyday life, where all sorts of transgressions were possible.
This series is our testimony of a decomposed thermal past. To make this series, we traveled to France, Italy and Romania.
Fascinated by travel, architecture and atypical places, it is quite natural that we succumb to the charm of forgotten structures. In an artistic approach, we capture a once sparkling heritage, a bygone era, while taking advantage of the historical teleportation offered by these places.
Through our project called "Symphony of Decay" and our photographs, we try to bring the viewer in a parallel universe conducive to questioning and wonder while demonstrating the poetics that exists within these agonizing buildings.

entry description
« Cure for Life » is a series dedicated to the heyday of thermalism also called the belle époque or the roaring twenties. An era that is over, but which haunt us constantly as we go through these jewels of yesteryear. Like lost souls, we sail through these wrecked carcasses. The only difference being the goal. Goal being very clear in our case. To witness involuntary time capsules and immortalize them.Spa resorts had their golden era from 1875 to 1915.
