title
12th of July Parades
Every year, July 12th, Protestants in Northern Ireland remember 'The Battle of the Boyne' when 'their' William defeated the catholic James (1690). For the protestant people of Northern Ireland the yearly parades are the moment to celebrate their Britishness. Most of the catholics see it as provocation.
I made this series of pictures this year in Belfast.
Het used to work for De Standaard (B) and NRC Handelsblad (NL) and was a newspaper correspondent in Paris and New York
