Hypnosis
When freediving down underwater on one breath, our mind can enter another dimension. A dimension of serenity and magic, which is very difficult to explain in words. In these pictures, I attempt to convey this sensation of perfection and tranquillity, and the harmony between the freediver and this stunning underwater environment.
I feel passionate to explore the beauty of the underwater realm and capture this on camera. I have been shooting underwater since 2006, at first with a small compact camera mainly of marine life, later focusing more on people underwater.
My pictures are taken in a natural way, on one breath while freediving. This way I can move around freely and not disturb or have impact on the underwater environment. I look for simplicity and harmony and have a strong preference for natural light. The underwater environment and human interaction with it, is very dynamic, making it an endless source of inspiration for me.

entry description
In the middle of the jungle, we descended far underground down a narrow set of stairs, and entered into an underwater sinkhole in the Yucatan Peninsula. Inside the sinkhole, a hypnotizing light beam penetrated the clear water all the way to the sandy bottom starting at 20 meter of depth. When freediving down underwater on one breath, our mind can enter another dimension. A dimension of serenity and magic, which is very difficult to explain in words. In these pictures, I attempt to convey this sensation of perfection and tranquillity, and the harmony between the freediver and this stunning underwater environment.
