The Dragon Well Tea Pickers

entry description
Dragon Well tea, grown on the Hangzhou hills, is most pure—and most expensive—just before the Tomb Sweeping Festival in early April. The weather has yet to turn humid and wet, so insect populations remain low and farmers don’t see a need to spray pesticide to protect new leaves which sprout in lime green across the hedgerows giving them a slight frizzy appearance. I go yearly and follow, discover or forge hiking trails to photograph the picking. Usually, I’m equipped only with DSLR, but this year (2021) I brought my new drone and flew it over a large group of tea pickers.back to gallery
