entry description
The whiskered tern is one of the predominant bird species in the Manglajodi wetlands of Odhisa. They fly around all over the wetlands looking for small fish. More often than not I have observed them flying very close by to the boat unafraid of the human presence. This photo was captured during one such close encounter of this elegant bird in flight in a patch of water lily, surrounded by the wetland habitat. Note to reviewer: Small punti fish that the whiskered tern prefer was procured from the local fisherman's previous evening catch. Those dead fish were strewn around the boat to draw the whiskered tern closer.about the photographer
