honorable mention
Peter Rieser austria
title
sceneries of interaction
In the design process and repeated walks, even in public he feels a state of privacy and familiarity, which in turn is interfered with by the unusual and unfamiliar - all enclosed by the space of photography.
Through his process, he filters the generally accessible space for aesthetic reference points, observes the imprints of interpersonal interaction that arise in it and concretizes these using parameters of digital photography. Employing chance as a co-composer, Rieser does not stage his pictures - he sees, selects and organizes.
He lives in Graz and is studying art history, in addition to that he works as a freelance photographer. He studied Fine Art Photography and Multimedia Arts at the Ortweinschule in Graz, which he graduated in the spring of 2020.
He also works as a teacher and organizer at the film and photography association.
His work has been featured in several exhibitions and is going to be published as a book.
Peter Rieser's work deals with the examination of photographic parameters with the conscious use of both photographic and image composition theory. He explores the field of identity and one's own origin to create photographically and formally consistent series.
In addition, he is currently trying to found a photo atelier together with other photographers, which will serve both as a workplace for one's own work and as a meeting point for photography, which offers space for discussions on the image as a perception phenomenon and should support the exchange of the austrian photography-scene
