entry description
This a portfolio about reclamation, memory, and the fading West of America. It was shot in the farmlands east of the Cascades in Oregon, a lonely, windswept place where decrepit buildings stand like forgotten buoys in a sea of grass. Here, nature is slowly taking back what once was its own; the structures and fence lines stand as tarnished memories, and faded dreams, of land ownership and settling in the American West. This project was shot with central composition elements in mind, with a telephoto lens and high aperture, to compress the landscape into a sort of diorama.
about the photographer
I am a photographer and storyteller, and my passion is for places both wild and familiar. I strive to document the interaction between memory, the natural world, and our own humanity, by immersing myself in place.back to gallery
